“ZERAH”

As an artist, I create colorful, playful, unexpected pieces from things I find in nature. I usually create art for the joy of it, but when I was invited to give a quarter horse a makeover, I didn’t even hear the details; I was just giddy with excitement to be part of this fun and unusual project, which benefits such a good cause.

‘Zerah’ is the Hebrew word for ‘new beginning.’ My inspiration was the idea of something which seemed lost and gone forever, but is found again. Utterly changed, it emerges in beautiful, new, and unexpected ways. Applying my style to the pony wasn’t difficult. It was ever-evolving creatively, but I always had a general idea – it was a matter of making that idea become a reality. I feel Zerah truly showcases my artistic vision. I loved creating her, and I think that feeling comes through in her details.

“She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
